Hello readers,

It’s that time of the month again, (not ‘that’ time as I am a young whipper snapper of a man, not a lady) to cast your votes for my newest Don’t panic effort. This months theme is TRADITION and you can have a little goosey gander at my effort by clicking in the words of the hero dj that is the norman cook, “right here right now”. If you like it and feel as though it’s worthy of your much cherished vote than please do so. Again only the top ten go forth to be judged, and this months judges are the great design agency peepshow collective.

Big thanks of a massive ‘BIG DADDY’ variety.

A world without branding or every day clutter, the question asked by Gregor Graf, is it still identifiable? Graf the clever old dog poses a question that sadly we shall never know, although we can be whisked away to such a delightful world via his tremendous use of the designers best chum Photoshop. Above is an image of Oxford Street stripped of all it’s bright lights and signs saying, come and buy stuff in here that tastes like sandwich or pick a telly that looks like a mirror but it’s actually a telly. Yet the question I pose to you readers of this blog is can you identify these other locations that have had the ‘Graf treatment’ as it’s known on the streets. Sadly to say in this day and age our lives wouldn’t be the same without branding. Thank the the lord we’re here to provide.

As a leading company within their sector, it was important to create a website that communicated an up to date story at all times, and so we created a CMS driven back end that provides the capability to update all site content and communicate fast moving activity within their company.

The Millennium Stadium is established as a world class must play, must visit venue and so we are delighted to have won the creative pitch to promote and enhance their brand proposition worldwide – watch this space to find out what we get up to!

Although the above example is a no brainer, especially when you consider that the offending site (now removed and redesigned) lifted copy from Motionographer to the extent that it still included their name in the contacts page, it’s an interesting debate. Youthoughtwewouldntnotice serves to highlight plagiarism in the industry, from student projects all the way to ad campaigns, with guilty parties spanning the entire breadth. I’m not sure how much weight it can carry when you consider that graphic design is a medium often consisting of content inspired by (or ripped off from) someone else, but you have to draw the line somewhere. Or should they shut up and get over it? Either way, the whole site is definitely a big can of worms.

Hello again one and all, I have created yet another Don’t Panic poster for next month’s ‘Luck’ competition.  Hooray.
