Fun in Cuba
During a recent fantastic trip to Cuba, Gretchen had the opportunity to try a little skydive! this is what she thought
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC just doesn’t describe it.
Cuba has a huge amount to offer as a holiday location, especially if you enjoy the culture and challenges of different societies.
As far as skydiving goes, the process was simple; picked up by coach and taken to a small office to sign disclaimers! Then on to Varadero airport to get checked on to the helicopter flight.
Once through security the experienced skydivers pair up with the novices and fit them with harnesses and half an hour later you find yourself sitting in a Russian helicopter waiting to take-off.
Just flying over Varadero on the North Coast of Cuba is fun in itself , with fantastic views of both land and sea, and once we were up to 3000m it’s time to jump.
I had talked my friend into coming along and she was the first one out the helicopter, I was next.
After the first initial ‘heart-in-mouth’ tumble out, there’s 45 seconds of free-falling/skydiving and a huge rush of adrenaline just couldn’t stop me from smiling. I was almost disappointed when it was time to bring out the parachute and take a 7 minute descent down to the beach.
I would gladly recommend to anybody and everybody who loves speed and isn’t afraid of heights It’s great fun!
