The brief

underscore was asked by Boris Johnson's Housing Options service to deliver the brand communications to launch First Steps - a major initiative to help Londoners looking to establish a foothold on the ever growing property ladder.

The thinking

The branding and key messages needed to be simple, inclusive and appeal to the whole of London and its diverse audiences, and so we started by creating a simple identity which combined housing with progression and could easily be understood within all marketing materials and their social media presence.

We established the First Steps brand through clear colour, image and message guides which even covered bespoke wallpaper made from their new identity. From there we designed all of the elements for the 2011 Affordable Homes Show which achieved some great results and saw a 10% increase in attendees from the previous year.
