Craig Fitzpatrick, founder and CEO of new website-building platform PageCloud, is adamant that the days of needing developers and agencies to build websites for businesses are over.
His new platform purports to revolutionise the way that people edit and customise their websites, allowing users to easily edit and create their pages on the fly seamlessly through a basic drag and drop process, rather than either tendering a third party to do the work or having to adhere to what he describes as “filling in the blanks of a rigid paint-by-number template”.
Fitzpatrick goes on to explain that PageCloud does not replace the role of the web designer, but instead gives business owners the freedom to make simple edits to their website. The drag and drop nature of the interface means that anyone capable of using PowerPoint or Photoshop can rapidly create and edit web content, cutting out the middle man and giving full creative freedom to people who previously wouldn’t have had the skills to make such changes.
However, while PageCloud offers the freedom to create and edit simple web pages, the fact remains that brands wanting to make a real impact would still do well to turn to the professionals. In this digital age, websites are often the first place that people come into contact with brands, and first impressions are important. Strategic consideration of UX (user experience), UI (user interface), calls to action, SEO (search engine optimisation), and general aesthetic design are all crucial for helping a website make a connection between the brand and potential consumers or clients. By taking control for themselves, businesses gain freedom but risk losing something much more important: a crucial consumer connection.
