With the Mobile World Congress currently taking place, Volvo has used this event to unveil their newest piece of advanced technology which allows website users to choose their car as a delivery option when ordering products online.

The “Roam Delivery” service utilises a smartphone or tablet to inform the car owner when there is a delivery waiting to be dropped off.

The receiver is then able to accept the delivery and by giving permission, a digital key enables the retailer to open their car and lock it again.

After the digital key has been used, there is a lock out period and then the digital key ceases to exist.

This is revolutionary in the increasingly busy modern life and will provide countless opportunities for digital marketers to become even more creative in how they reach consumers and focus on the end to end customer journey.

As Marketing Week reported, “the campaign is aimed at all ages…particularly focused on the younger generation who tend to engage most on social media. Breakthrough Breast Cancer has 15,000 Twitter followers as well as almost 33,000 fans on Facebook and now hopes to monetise that audience.”
