Over the weekend, Facebook unveiled a new look for profile pages, which we have to say, we rather like. Nobody likes change, unless of course, it’s change that makes things down right better than they were in the first place!

The changes include a mini-bio about you under your name, specifically where you work, where you live, relationship status etc, which allows visitors to your profile the opportunity to get a feel for who you are as soon as they arrive.

Photos are also given prominence at the top of your page, so extra-diligence is needed on the un-tagging front, if you don’t want that unflattering picture from the weekend, appearing as one of the first things people see.

Friends now show up in a grid-like format and display who your mutual friends are & common favourite artists.  Yes, the format is a little bit smaller, but for those of us who road-tested it at Underscore Towers, it didn’t feel like an issue.

Facebook says it will gradually be updating everyone’s profiles by the beginning of next year, but if you can’t wait that long, you can get it now here.

Mashable also reported that fanpages are to be given the make-over treatment as well and will make prominence of the Facebook ‘check-in’ feature.  So, watch this space and make sure you’re a fan of our Facebook page, as we’ll be getting our grubby little mitts on the new look as soon as physically possible.
